Verandas

A roof over the back door, all year.

Glass or polycarbonate over a patio, a side passage or a back entrance. Fitted against the house, drained inside the frame, and finished to match your windows.

The options

What goes on top, and what goes at the sides.

Glass roof

Toughened safety glass, 8 or 10 mm. The most daylight, the best look, and the option that still looks clear in year ten.

Toughened safety glass
Self-cleaning coating optional
Maximum daylight into the room behind

Polycarbonate roof

Sixteen millimetre multiwall polycarbonate. Lighter, warmer, and quieter under heavy rain than most people expect.

16 mm multiwall
Better insulation than glass
Lower cost per square metre

Side screens

Fixed glass, sliding panels or a solid end. Cuts the wind coming down the side of the house, which is usually the thing that stops people sitting out.

Fixed, sliding or solid
Cuts the prevailing wind
Can be added later

Integrated lighting

LED strips run inside the beams and wire back to a switch or a remote. Nothing hangs off the frame and nothing is visible in daylight.

Dimmable

Questions

Before you book.

Usually, when it is at the rear and within the exempted floor area. Because it attaches to the house the calculation includes any existing extension, so we check it at the survey.
Glass is quieter than polycarbonate. Both are quieter than a standard conservatory roof. If noise matters to you, say so at the survey and we will show you the difference.
A glass roof loses very little light. Polycarbonate diffuses it. If the room behind is already north facing we will usually recommend glass.
Yes, provided there is enough height for the minimum pitch and the wall can take the fixing. That is exactly what the survey establishes.
Next step

Get the back door usable in the rain.

A survey is free, takes about half an hour and puts you under no obligation.
